Re:Running for President snowyheart: Bg, yep, it's all about the pack, the tent, and the hike.
That route looks so brutal, omg, I'm just crazy enough to actually try something like that. Is that were Bridger Bowl skiing is?
Scs, Nice pic! Awesome rock formations.
Re:Running for President jen: sunny~
Curious about the fact that you made particular mention of the rock formations...in which picture?

Re:Running for President browngreen: Sunny--
LOL-- Yeah, everyone thinks I'm crazy. But what fun!Views on both sides (I guess it's impossible to pass someone), and it's a total ascent/deccent of 6800 feet!
So,yeah,going to hike it first.
One friend was like "It's not a normal marathon, you know?" and I said"DUH!!!!"
Yeah, it's in the bridgers, the same as bridger bowl!
The pic of the rock formation is none other than the aforementioned halfdome! Quite a bit of granite, wouldn't you say?
SCS-- I'm only running about 10- 12 a week...I'd like to be up to 15by June. Doing 2 short runs aweek and then one long one. I have been good at the cross training, but only because life makes me-- my work is very physical, and I have to ride a bike on a nice day. ALso,SCUBA class means I have to swim, which I've recently discovered I love to do. I'll start really riding soon and lifting for upper body strength.
You know, MT has some Ruby Mountains! SAphires, too.
Your pics are great! And you even included half dome!!!
I wish I had some digitized pictures to share!
Do you use a digital camera? I need to get one!

Re:Running for President browngreen: Misadventures, huh?
It was when we were out that we really came together as a couple, as a team.
Once at Glacier, we were heading to Cracker Lake at the Base of Mt's Allen and Siyeh. You have to reserve a camp spot there-- there are only 3 spots available (all designated so as not to harm the park in any way). I think it's only a 6 mile approach. We didn't even start out until the crack of noon, and were discussing how we'd get the worst camp spot. But on the way there, we passed a couple who were resting by the river. They mentioned how there were only 3 spots, and we were like "See ya there!"
about 2 miles before the end, we passed another couple coolingthemselves in the shade of a big rock. Wejust pranced right by and said Hello!
We were first there and of course, pickedthe spot closest to the lake. I setup camp, my H hung our food, and we hiked on around the lake and watched the others approach from the back of the Siyeh glacier!
Later at the designated eating/fire area, the other couples gave us a hard time in a good way. We climbed MT allen the next day while the other people recovered from the hike in, and they all watched us like they thought we were nuts for hiking MORE. I was very proud.
Later, when a marmot stole our pepperspray, we had to sneak up on it to get it back.... it was quite an event.
I wish we had cooperated as well in day to day life!
Have you heard of Jane English's photography? I haven't been in a dark room since college either, but I look at her work and think "I want to do that!"

Re:Running for President jen: bg~
yup, labeled misadventure only afterwards of course ;D only once when we were actually on a backpacking trip did it really fall into the misadventure category, but plenty of close calls on day trips...lol
But, I know what you mean how being out really brings you together as a couple and as a team. You have to be able to rely on each other, and there is nobody else around to rely on. We had similar experiences along the way, just less and less of them as time went on.
I love that you stole the pepper spray back! :)
I haven't heard of Jane English, but I'll look her up. The photography gallery that I went to was Jerry Dodrill's - his work and website are pretty awesome - www.jerrydodrill.com
