Re:How do you start dating?? Brian75034: Cyn,

the best thing to do is try to forget about dating.

Do things you find fun, you enjoy. Join groups you have an interest in or take classes in things you like to do.

You will find yourself surrounded by tons of people and the dating part will come easy. Because it will seem more natural.

If that helps or makes any sense?

Doesn't matter what you look like - there are people out there who will find you attractive, and there are people out there who will find you repulsive. But in my experience, most everybody is turned off by someone who is too clingy - someone who doesn't think they can be happy without a partner.

I've met a lot of cool people through my extracurricular activities. Not many of them are eligible females. But when you're spending time with cool people and having fun, you tend not to notice that you don't have a partner.

So I'd say start by pursuing your interests. All the better if they are interests you neglected when you were with your ex.

Great minds just think alike! ;)

Re:How do you start dating?? EfemII: Cyn,

I like the last couple of responses. If you're not ready to start dating, then go out and do the things you neglected to do during your marraige. If you like to run, then join a club of joggers in your area, or run some 5ks. You'll meet people, and it'll be in the context of doing something you enjoy.

The hardest thing to do after a divorce is to deal with being alone. For me, it's been a growing process that's getting more interesting and fun. You find out more about yourself, and it gives you a chance to heal from your divorce.

Everyone has their own timetable, and you'll know when you're ready to start dating again.

Re:How do you start dating?? NotADoormat: It's all trial and error, there's really no "right" way to do things. Just do what feels comfortable for you and you'll be most natural at it and more likely to be yourself. :)
