Re: Heading back to college... Bubby: Good luck all of you with your college ambitions.

I know how difficult it is and will be for you, but I also know that it can be done--I got pregnant my freshman year of college but I never stopped going, even if it was just taking two or three classes a semester.  I finished with my BA and started shortly on my MA.

Although my husband and I separated over a year ago, I made the brave decision to move to another town to begin my PhD and I just finished my first year.  I can't believe it--I'm alone in this big city with 2 kids taking three graduate classes a semester and teaching three college courses.

My boys have no idea what it is like for Momma to not be in school-- Ex:  my son's kindergarten teacher asked my son what his Daddy's job?  He said a nurse.  She asked what his Mommy did and he said "homework."

Keep at it.  You can do it and you'll be great role models and inspirations for your children.
Heading back to college... twobeautifulkids: I have a degree in Business Admin that I've never really used. I've been a stay at home mom for 7 years and before that the jobs I worked didn't really pertain to my degree. Since my husband moved out two weeks ago I have decided I'm going back to school for my education degree. It's very important to me to be home when my kids are home (at least for the most part) and I don't want to give up that dream. I had to give up a lot of others when he walked out, but that one I still am going to try my hardest to keep.
I have my transcript assessment appointment with one college on Tuesday. I'll try to make another appointment with my other choice for later in the week.
I'm going to be a teacher! WOHOOOOO!

Re:Heading back to college... AloneandCold: Woo Hoo!!!!!!! Gratz!!!!
Re:Heading back to college... twobeautifulkids: Well I may have to change direction - it will take me at least 3 years at the college I went to today to get my elementary education certificate.
Re:Heading back to college... twobeautifulkids: what degree will you be going for?

I'll be finishing my master of arts in teaching when I am 36 if all goes well. I found a program that I should be able to finish in May 2007 as long as I'm accepted into it! I've signed up for two prereq. courses over the summer at the local community college. Life changes so fast!
