Re:Heading back to college... twobeautifulkids: Best of luck to you Jim and AG! We can all do this! It won't be easy, but it will be so worth it. Such a feeling of accomplishment. And for me it will provide me with a career I can have forever and never depend on a man to foot the bills again.
Re:Heading back to college... browngreen: Good point.
I love being self-sffficient.

Re:Heading back to college... Pumpkin: That's great that you have decided to go back to school....I am also a stay at home mom to a 14 month old and even though I have a bachelors degree in Religion, I have decided to go into a graduate program to get my Orientation and Mobility certification (teaching blind/visually impaired how to use canes, be independent in travel, using bus system, etc.). I know abou this from working in the field as an Employment Specialist before I had my son, helping the visually impaired/blind with finding suitable employment and being successful in their jobs. I have alot of connections in the field of Orientation and Mobility and even got a stipend/grant to cover almost all of the costs for classes, etc. I will be making at least $10,000 more per year than if I went out and got a job now. I am really happy that I will have something positive to focus on despite this nasty divorce I am going through. Good luck to you in your education and in teaching!
Re: Heading back to college... Bubby: Good luck all of you with your college ambitions.

I know how difficult it is and will be for you, but I also know that it can be done--I got pregnant my freshman year of college but I never stopped going, even if it was just taking two or three classes a semester.  I finished with my BA and started shortly on my MA.

Although my husband and I separated over a year ago, I made the brave decision to move to another town to begin my PhD and I just finished my first year.  I can't believe it--I'm alone in this big city with 2 kids taking three graduate classes a semester and teaching three college courses.

My boys have no idea what it is like for Momma to not be in school-- Ex:  my son's kindergarten teacher asked my son what his Daddy's job?  He said a nurse.  She asked what his Mommy did and he said "homework."

Keep at it.  You can do it and you'll be great role models and inspirations for your children.
