I'm missing my baby's birthday...

I'm missing my baby's birthday... Chelle30: Anyone got ant advice on how to deal with the fact that I'll be missing my girls birthday?
Currently she spends one week with me and one week with her father. Her daddy (ICKY MAN) will be here in a couple of hours to pick her up, and Friday is her birthday. I used to send a small present in her lunch (she's gonna be 7) for school and surprise her with a special breakfest...but this year, she's with daddy and new gf. He called me two days ago to let me know that if I wanted to plan a party, she would contribute $100 bucks toward it. Can yo believe it? Am I right to be saddened and angry about this? I've been trying to get in touch with him since April to discuss plans for her party, but the stupid ick didn't bother to return calls or even answer the damn phone. >:(
How do I deal with the fact that my daughter might not have the most special birthday in the world.?

Re:I'm missing my baby's birthday... sheydp: Quick, write a lovey card, seal it, tell her to open it on her birthday and not before. Send her a card in the mail that will arrive on her birthday (kids LOVE getting mail). Drop birthday treats off at her school for the kids to share on Friday.... I have some more ideas, but thought I would throw these out quickly...

Re:I'm missing my baby's birthday... twobeautifulkids: Is there any way you could join her for lunch at school or get the ex to agree to letting you take her out to breakfast or dinner that night? Or even just a playground after school? I'm not sure the proximity of your homes, but it's a couple of ideas for you. Since you say he's such an icky man, I'm not sure any of the above will work for you except perhaps eating lunch w/ her at school. Good luck. I'm sure she'll be thrilled to celebrate her birthday with you when she's home. After all, the birthday gets to go on longer that way! ((HUGS))
Re:I'm missing my baby's birthday... Chelle30: Thanks guys...

I think I'll do all your suggestions! I've already planned a party for her when she returns home next Sunday, but as for the before or after school thing...Daddy won't allow it, it's "HIS TIME"...Can y ou believe it? Gotta go...got a special card to make!!

Thank you so much!!

Re:I'm missing my baby's birthday... angieslp: My daughter is 7 mos old, and I already know that her birthday (her FIRST) is on a "daddy" weekend. I'm crushed, but I also know that he won't share that day with me, because I know him...I'm doing her celebration the weekend before...my lawyer keeps saying "she won't remember..." But I will.
