What's the "Dating" thread for? - avoid if needed :) teacherwriterguy: Rather than clutter up the photo thread, which is where we get to see the people from whom we are getting support and encouragement, I thought the dialogue might continue for a bit here. And actually, I just wanted to broaden it out for a second:

Just one comment I picked out from the above discussion, but it raises the question. What do you guys think this section of the board is for?
Is it for us to discuss re-entering the dating world in real life?
Is it for us to discuss dating one another and for gathering interest in that?
Is it both?
Is it neither?
Is it inappropriate if someone posts a picture in order to gain male or female attention? Or is that the point of the photo thread?
Why did you post your picture personally?
Believe me, I am absolutely the last one who would judge someone making a romantic or emotional connection on here, but I think there's genuine confusion sometimes about what the dating thread is for and it's worth talking about because it obviously affects us while we post and while we reflect on ourselves and what's happening in regards to our divorces and lives.
Talk amongst yaselves.

I personally posted my pic so people could put a face to a name. It really took me a while to post it because I didn't want people to think I was putting up there to attract attention. Finally I just said screw it, who cares. I posted it for no other reason than so people know what I look like.

I dont' think the dating section is for "hook-ups".
I don't have a problem with Ojarians hooking up (obviously).
I think it is more for advice on what to do as we all start dating.
I happen to be dating an Ojarian myself.

I always believed, and still do, that the Dating Section is for advice, or questions, or simply talking about the dates you have been on or are going on. It, to my knowledge, is not for "hooking up". Of course people obviously do hook-up on here, but I do not believe they come here with the intent on doing so. I know I was on here for over 10 months before I "hooked-up" with BBH.
In regards to the reason I posted my pic. Shock value really. Prior to my posting of my pic, it was an on running joke that I was huge obese bald man, who had massive body hair, and a strange obsession with KFC. It was actually funny as heck to see the posts, and get the PM's from people (men and women), about how shocked they were. Personally, I never posted it in order to pick up, as I am sure most people didn't post theres in hopes to pick up.
