Re:You're In My Personal Space ChristyM: I guess the question wasn't so much should I lie to him about it or be honest ... it was more how should I SAY it and not come off all selfish and self absorbed. In the past, I was brutually honest about stuff and that seemed to backfire so now I'm a little skittish about just saying what I feel -- i'm having a hard time accomplishing that healthy balance. I do like the guy a lot which is why I don't want to hurt his feelings.

Re:You're In My Personal Space Shanna: I would say....hey fool...I need some space. ;D
Kidding. I would probably say something like......ahhh I would probably just help him leave really obviously after he had been over for a good amount of time....forget subtle.
Re:You're In My Personal Space amola: "hey, <guy friend>....i've got some things that i need to get done, so why don't you go and do <something> for a while and i'll let you know when i get done with my stuff."
if he says, oh, i'll help........
"no, really <great guy>....i just have some things that i like to do on my own (and/or with my daughter). it doesn't mean that i don't want to spend time with you--i just want us to be able to do stuff on our own too and not feel like we HAVE to spend every second with each other."
think that'll help?

Re:You're In My Personal Space JimB: I'm not a big believer in scripts. If you have genuine feelings for the guy, that will come across, whatever you say. It takes two to communicate - keep in mind that you can only control what you say and how you say it, not how he reacts to it.
That said, I always feel much better about taking a bitter pill when it's accompanied by hand holding and eye contact.
Re:You're In My Personal Space Lumpy: Yo Christy,
Longtime no speak girl. I think timing and setting might be the key here. Maybe you could make him a nice romantic dinner in an intimate setting. After sharing a good laugh or a "moment" you could spring your feelings on him in a diplomatic fashion. I don't think there's any foolproof way to say "I need a little space" but maybe the surroundings and the moment might help cushion the blow a little. Glad to hear you're doing well. Stay Sane.
