Re:Advice Needed loshyra: I would say NO WAY also. You are totally not responsible for his failures. He owes you already...what the HECK did he do with the money that you already gave him? Why can't he pay his own bills?

This happened to me with my second ex. I gave him over $3000 from the joint account and when he realized that I was not taking him back he would call and ask for more. My reponse was always...I have nothing left.. I gave you half the money and if you already spent it then you are SOL!

But that is just my opinion...
Re:Advice Needed jillieb44: As the owner of a business, start up is never easy and the biggest cause of failure is undercapitalization. If you can afford to lend him money, and want to, do so but I'd draw up a repayment schedule so he knows exactly what your terms are (charge nominal interest as well). That way, in the event of the relationship collapse OR if the business takes off, you will be repaid.

My stbx lent me money once for my business and I paid back half, still can't afford to pay him the rest, but he hasn't paid me grocery money in 4 weeks so....

Get it in writing, so at least you can sue in small claims court if he defaults.
