Re:3 am anxiety zanax addiction ? thewall: Hi,
I am not divorced but had a breakup recently which caused an anxiety attack. I just kept staring at the clock and couldn't sleep. Took some medicines. But then after a couple of days I stopped and discovered a new technique to relax and sleep peacefully: Meditation!

It works! Meditation simply means emptying your mind of unwanted thoughts. But mind can't be emptied so easily. So you must focus on something that's very simple and completely harmless. What I do is just concentrate on my breath. When I inhale and exhale I just concentrate on how cold air comes in and warm air goes out and just try to keep the pace steady. Quickly it becomes an interesting game and makes you a little sleepy. Moreover, when the breath is steady it calms mind too. So whenever you feel that you are thinking crap, just concentrate on your breathing pattern. It worked great from me.

If you try it and doesn't work for you then don't be frustrated and get panicked. It takes quite a bit of practise....this is not the first time I did it, I have been doing it since a long time.

And yes, turn the clock off!

Re:3 am anxiety zanax addiction ? Samarra: OK...here goes nothing. I have a panic disorder....and was prescribed Xanax. Loved them. True love. Upon taking these pills I had not a care in the world. Every problem...every sleep difficulty...any anxiety floated away. Too good to be true?? Yes! Ifound myself becoming addicted within 2 weeks. Of course this does not hold true for everyone. So many things depend upon an addiction. Genetics played a huge part in my case.
Bottom line...if you feel you can't sleep without them...or feel an increasing dependancy on them...please try to stop. I went through withdrawls from antidepressants and tranquilizers. It truly was hell. Hope this helps.

Re:3 am anxiety zanax addiction ? My_farm: Thanks again for your replies.
If I do not look at the clock I will not be able
to tell if it is 11PM and I can still try to sleep or
it's 10 minutes till time to get up.
Lurkers please respond with your exp.

Agree with the wall here, breathing if you can do it is the best around, plus there are no withdrawal symtoms ..

My GP when he found out I was taking Zanax for 2 weeks nearly kicked my butt, told me to get off them and exercise, I ran for the next 3 weeks it worked,=.... PS. This was 2hrs every day, not 3 weeks soid, I'm no Forest Gump .

Anyway try anytrhing you can but Meds. !!
