Re:Sleep help??? sourpuss: all of the above.

and you should make your bedroom a place where only sleep takes place.

the theory is if you have a tv, computer, ironing board, etc in there, your mind will have things to be active about.

remove all distractions, or at least as much as you can, and it helps to trick your mind into thinking "this is the part of the day when i sleep".
Re:Sleep help??? dreamerpoet: I have tried a lot of different things and have resigned myself to being an insomniac. I have even tried Tylenol PM and Melatonin with out too much positive result. HELP!!! I really need the rest!!!!!

Re:Sleep help??? sourpuss: ok, stare at my pocket watch, swinging baaaaaack & fooooorth, you are getting very, very sleepy........

have you asked the doc? we all hate to take pills, but sometimes ya gotta........

although, in desperation, i have occasionally resorted to neo-citron. knocks me out. hard to wake up, though.
Re:Sleep help??? felixthecat421: Going through the same thing, due to my separation...it happened to me once before, during job loss. The GOOD NEWS is that this is likely "situational", meaning you know the cause of this, its the stress from your divorce. It WILL go away. This is very different than chronic insomnia. Try not to rely on drugs like Ambien or other things that can be addictive; that can cause your sleep problems to become longer lasting.
Re:Sleep help??? Pumpkin: haven't read the other posts but try warm milk and turkey - there is something in turkey that makes you sleepy naturally. Also, sometimes it works for me to try to remember how tired I am in the mornings and how I try to imagine what that feels like (the strong desire to sleep longer), I tell myself I have the opportunity now to enjoy feeling like that (when you get to sleep in in the morning). Hope that helps!
