The auto-censor...
.

The auto-censor... Tarheel: I understand the need for it. Thus, I either censor my d*** language personally, or just avoid it altogether.

However, I recently received a private message, and the sender jokingly "tried" to tell me that I was [a word describing one who is too over-confident"> . It starts with a "co" and ends with a "cky." When I read it however, it came back as "manhoody." It took me reading it four times to figure out what had happened.

I thought it was funny. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had sent this person one earlier with another goofy censor job. I referred to the person at my office who is directly beneath me - the asst. manager. However, I used "my" instead of "the," and the auto censor turned it into "I disagreet. manager." Again, funny, but it kinda confuses me, and I'm guessing some others if they've encountered this, as well.

These are the only two instances that I've come across myself. Is there any way to turn the auto-censor off on private messages (I would think not,) and has anybody else seen any other weirdness like I've encountered. Cause like I said, I find it funny.
Re:The auto-censor... admin: I would turn it off if I could for private mesgs.

Unfortunately the software doesn't offer that feature, it's either all or nothing!

The reason it is used is to try to keep this site G-rated.

Re:The auto-censor... Tarheel: Oh, I completely understand the need for it. I was just wondering if it was possible and if anyone else had come across the problem.

Also, just noticed in digging thru my messages: no mention of tennis players named Andy Roddic. (Have to leave off the "k" or else get "manhooded.")
Re:The auto-censor... in_search_of: Tarheel, just a hint, and its an odd hint, when you hit reply in your PM's the message will show below the reply window, and it takes the profanity filter off, so then you get the correct message. Also if you have email notification of your PM's If I remember right, they come across right in your email...
