The thing is your daughter may try and keep in contact with you regardless of what your ex wants. Keep that door open. Send her birthday cards, write her, maintain your relationship by any means possible. I understand she's too young at this point to effectively oppose her mothers' wishes, but if you maintain some kind of contact it will mean a lot to her. As she gets older, and gains some independance from her mom, she may well contact you.
