Blowing off steam... ColoHill: His family arrives today. I am so nervous for how this week is gonna go. His mom and dad know about his affair, though he doesn't know they know. He just thinks they know that he asked me for a seperation. I don't know if his grandparents even know that!
I have found out that when he said he called her because he was getting hang-up calls, there were no other calls on the phone bill (not even "unavailable" ones). He's a liar! So, I want to ask him about it. Can't! Boy, this isn't the time for that! I feel so stuck!!! I can't just pretend to be happy and act like I feel loved when I don't just because his family is here. Yet, I want to enjoy my time with them because I love them all to death and don't know when/if I will actually get to see them again! I HATE FEELING LIKE THIS...JUST WANT TO GO INTO A ROOM BY MYSELF AND YELL AND SCREAM!!!!! Why do I end up feeling like this!?!?
Re:Blowing off steam... sourpuss: i disagree. this is the perfect time to ask him. haul his lying @ss onto the carpet.
oh well, i'm wearing my angrypants today, looking for a fight, i guess.
enjoy them while they're there. try not to think about the storm to come. in a way it's good, it will give you a little distance between the finding the lie & the confronting him with it.
stay strong, you'll be ok.
Re:Blowing off steam... marfanoidus: I'm with sourpuss on this one.
This is the perfect time for him to see the chickens come home to roost, to pay the piper, to watch the rats run when the light is shone upon them, to realize the nest ain't that great when you sh!t in it, (help me out folks with other metaphors)....
Why facilitate his hiding of his actions, his trying to perpetuate a lie to his family???
I say to nail his balls to the wall - this is a perfect opportunity for you set the standard by which you intend to deal with his actions from this point forward.
Of course, I have a tendency to have no mercy for people who dig their own holes and then complain when they find themselves in it.
Just don't let him think you're going to help cover up for him. That could set a bad precedent for later down the road.
good luck to you,
walt
Re:Blowing off steam... sourpuss: here you go:
face the music, bite the bullet, make one's bed and lie on it, pay the piper, take one's lumps, take one's own medicine....
i am all about the metaphors.
i think my advice was to cool down, but marf is right, don't cover it up for HIS sake. hold off only if it's right for you.
