until one has the final decree in their hot little hand, they are married. what it means from the courts' standpoint varies from place to place.
what effect it will have on the outcome of a divorce proceeding, i don't know. i live in a no-fault province. he can bang everyone from here to the rockies, and it doesn't matter.

If she is in a "fault" state and claims adultery she could get a larger percentage of the assets, could affect child custody (if that's an issue), etc. However, MANY judges are tough on the spouse to prove adultery/timelines, etc. Make sure that the adultery she speaks of is not another "situation" they maybe encountered before you came along. If she is referring to you and IF it's a fault state and it escalates. Try tracking down notes, cards, etc., phone records, that may show when your dating began.
