Re:Teachers acidflask: Does it count if both your parents were teachers. Nah...guess it's not hereditary.

...and, yeah, it was awesome having both parents off during the summer.
Re:Teachers LostTeacher: maybe my job had a small part of things, but not the way many might think.
my stbxh never really appreciated what i did for my job. i put in a ton of hours, work-wise and volunteer-wise, and worked my @ss off whenever i could.
the problem was, my xh never was interested in it. he never wanted to hear about my day, or listen to me talk about my kids. this job is so important to me, and it was hard when the most important person in my life was not interested in what i did.
i also think that teachers are overworked. where else are you absolutely expected to put in 50+ hours of volunteer time in every year. i put in about 200+ hours this year, and years that i have coached.....i couldn't tell you how many hours. i think that this does put a lot of strain on a relationship.

BUT.............i think that the strain is only significant if people don't work together. i wasn't able to share the things i wanted to with my stbxh, because he was never interested. it didn't matter how much i tried to be interested in the things he did, he never cared about the things i did. and the next person that i am with is going to need to care, and is going to need to understand how important teaching is to me, and how important it is that i share this with them.
