Its not going to heal anything, and in the end it will make the problem worse, because you are not treating the underlying cause.
If you truly want to marry her, then work things out, get together, make sure that you are healthy as a couple. And then ask her. Then you can enjoy what planning a wedding and a life has to offer, the stress, the fights, etc. Because, to me, the process of planning a wedding is the first step in seeing if you can be married, because there is bound to be a fight or 10 in there somewhere. And if you go at it now, you are going to be broken up from an engagement, instead of a long term relationship.
