something about a 30 minute trip taking more than 2 hours because people who dont live here just urks my nerves..... grrrr

every now and then, you have to wait for a train. pretty annoying when they stop to switch tracks right at main street and you have to wait for them to back up and go forward half a dozen times to get on the right track. but you can use the time to clean out your car and fix your makeup (not that i wear any).
oh, then there's the combines. yeah, wheat harvest causes some traffic tie-ups. the combines are too wide for most of the roads, so you gotta make sure that you pull off far enough to let them pass ya.
then the grain trucks waiting in line at the grain elevators. gotta be careful driving past them, since the drivers hang out and chat with each other while they're waiting for their turn. they sometimes block the view at the one intersection, but the drivers'll wave ya on through when there's no one coming.
gotta' watch out for those funeral processions too. they'll sometimes slow ya down a smidge.
yup, traffic around here kinda' sucks at times.....had to go from the garage to the courthouse the other day.....hit a couple of lights red, so it took about 3 minutes to go that 10 blocks.......*sigh*

I know, I'm the idiot who choses to live here and live so far from work. One way is 38 miles. Yucky. Takes about 1.5 hours one way.

assuming that it's a morning when i don't have the kids....i set my alarm for 7:30 so that i have time to take a shower before work. i generally snooze until about ohhhhhh........7:55-7:57.........
get up, find my glasses, wobble to the bathroom. pee. brush my teeth. go back to the bedroom and possibly put some clothes on, but more than likely just keep wearing whatever i slept in. might throw a bathrobe on. forget about the shower for now, i'll take it on my lunch break.
then i wobble down the steps.......oh, look, it's 7:59. plop down in front of the puter, boot it up, call into the main office and get my messages.........
it's rough.
if i have the kids........get up about 6:30, get them up and dressed, ex picks up the oldest at 7:30, i take the other 2 to daycare, and i'm back home by 8:00, booting up the puter.........
anyone ready to kill me?

nothing like getting up at 4:30....getting dressed driving in to work....parking a mile from the gate....walking mile to gate...swipe badge to clock in...walk another mile to get to the ship......
then 4:30 in the afternoon walking mile back to gate swiping out...then sprinting mile to get to car and then it's
"Gentlemen start your engines" 12,000 people on day shift getting off and traffic is hell......everything you learned when you learned to drive gets thrown out the window and it is every man and woman for his and herself.....sometimes bumper to bumper for an hour and a half to just get to the road.......today it is raining and the start of our holiday weekend.....off till tuesday with pay for the 4th of july.....so we decide to rain out but so does every other pipe crew and various other departments........we hit the parking lot soaked and fight to escape the job for the weekend and bam one wreck right after another.......traffic...sheesh....ever want to see traffic , be out here at 4:30 in the afternoon and watch the ingalls 500
