As far as kicking him out, I only work part time, and I rely on his income right now. I need to keep a roof over my son's head, and I'm afraid of what he'll do if I kick him out . . .

Changing the locks on the door and tossing his stuff out on the lawn is not going to solve anything. He lives there. It's not a crime to break into your own house, call the locksmith out and have the locks changed again.
Not that I am condoning anything(right? ;) )but if for some reason you were to have to file a restraining order on him there would be no choice but for him to leave the house while still making payments. As far as not working, and the fact that you have a child....You have some prime leverage there that you can use against him(in terms of alimony, etc...). That may be able to help you get some peace of mind throughout the whole divorce process.
Talk to a lawyer right away VM and find out exactly what your options are at this point. Once you sit down and speak with someone and develop a plan on how you are going to get through this you will not feel so helpless.
