I think the original statement is a bizarre skew on the chain of events that is misconstrued as one directly leading to the other. I think it should be a little more like: You will meet someone new when you feel you are getting over it, where the two are separate events that follow in a logical sequence.
We are young. (Although, I feel I have to remind myself of that sometimes.) There's plenty of time to heal before we start looking into serious stuff again. Enjoy your life with or WITHOUT someone else. It won't just be fantastic, instant self-confidence like before; this one will take longer.
Keep telling yourself that you'll be starting pitcher again someday without anyones help.
