Re:sat night blues justmenow: EZ, you will find a place and a time where you feel more comfortable with life in general. If you go out and don't feel comfortable, then don't do it again for a while. Then try it again. Don't give up. You will eventually grow to feel more comfortable in the situation you are in. People are going to be people and if you're unhappy in your situation, remove yourself from it and go somewhere else.

I found in the past couple of months that I was trying so hard to redefine myself and "fit" in with various groups of people that I frankly just don't fit with. It was making me as unhappy as my marriage did. So, I decided to stop it. This is going to sound really, really selfish, but if it doesn't please me, I leave. Sometimes easier said than done, but you will get the hang of it. As for the live music, don't give up - go to listen to the music and let that be your only goal. If the music is good, then you've succeeded!

Good luck!
Re:sat night blues grober: EZ,

Don't be so hard on yourself. You went out one night and even if you didn't have the best time ever, it is great that you actually went out. Some people feel like they have to have someone to go out with in order to have fun. The fact that you went out on your own is great.

It will take some time to get through this. Rebuilding your confidence and finding yourself again takes time and effort, but there is no deadline. Give yourself a chance. Several times I felt the way you described. I had to make myself go out despite the fact that I felt like I didn't want to. Sometimes just drove around and ended up back at my house, other times I actually went out and had a good time.

Now I'm always on the go, meeting new people, etc.

Just wanted to let you know that I've been there and that it does get better. BTW, you're NOT pathetic!

Good Luck.
