Going out for the first few times is VERY HARD. Going it alone is something you will eventually get used to. At times it feels awkward, but really it isn't too bad. I've started working with a local charity and have met some of the greatest people.
Since most of the people I know are married with kids, I really don't have much choice. In order to make new single friends, I HAVE to put myself out there. The fact that I want to more often than not is just a bonus.

That is a good idea, I would like to get involved w/ a charity or something along those lines. I think it was this site that suggested helping others as a way to feel good about yourself & meet others.
You're right...it's no fun going to parties date-less...but at least I know I can be brave & it will be a new & good experience for me !
