Unpleasantly commonplace. Yeah, that about sums it up for me, too. Like seeing a dead cat on the side of the road. You wonder if it might have been loved by someone, but you're in a hurry, so you drive on by. You don't even slow down. You pass by it the next day, and the day after that. The tragedy looms somewhere in the back of your mind, too common to give voice to, lest you raise it above the million other tragedies of equal merit, yet too profound to dismiss. You wonder if anyone else notices or cares. You're not sure if you feel like it shouldn't matter, but it does; or like it should matter, but it doesn't.
Or maybe I'm just in a wistful mood today. I don't know.
