Re: confused... sooverhim: that's what i thought...i'll have to mention that to him...just seems too drastic for the first time serving the papers to use sheriff...i thought they tried 3 times and then sheriff took it...i should have never agreed to him taking care of the legalities, i feel so in the dark now
Re: confused... tyrogers: You can call his attorney and see if you can come pick them up.  You can also call his attorney and volunteer to have them served certified mail, that you will pick them up.  His attorney cannot give you any legal advice, but you can call and let his attorney know that you are willing to sign for them, yadda yadda.  So that way if he is bullshitting you, the attorney will catch on too.

Re: confused... sooverhim: that is very true, if i'm willing why wouldn't they, right?

thanks for that, gives me a little more sense of everything is going to be alright.
Re: confused... Kermie: There is no reason that he should be serving the papers at your parents house unless it is your last known address or you are living with them.  Call his lawyer and give your current address to him and state that you would like the papers served at that address.  If it wasn't your parents I would say he was setting somebody up for a witness on his side but that dosen't look like the case. (case get it!) If you can't get through to his lawyer ask for his assistant they usually help more than the lawyer anyway.  Hope that helps.
Re: confused... jillieb44: You can be served at work if you agree to that (depends on where you work, I guess -- I was served at my work cuz it was just easier -- then I threw a party and did a happy dance, LOL).

If for some reason you don't want him to know where you live, I'd vote for some secondary address as well.
