Re: My son started kindergarten - and I got to take him wpgilbe: He loved his first and second days at school. He had a great time. His mother FINALLY called at 5:30 the afternoon of his first day to talk to him. I did everything I could tao make it special for him despite her selfishness. We went for ice cream when I picked him up, and each morning we looked at the menu for the school lunch so that he would know what to expect.
So the temporary custody hearing was yesterday.... It was scheduled for 1:00. My whole family (about 10-12 people) showed up to support me. She had her parents and no one else. The hearing before ours ran WAY over, and at 5:00, they ended up postponing it until August 25th. As some of you know, my stbx has already taken a job in another state, but she cannot take the children out of GA until a temporary order is issued. So now, she faces a choice of either quitting her job and moving back (which looks even more irresponsible - she signed a teaching contract one week ago) or keep her job and see the children on the weekends (which does not speak well for her as a mother). Either way, it will give my son several more weeks in school in GA and by then, my daughter will have started preschool as well. I cannot imagine the judge pulling them out of school after several weeks. It was a definite win for my side, and I don't know what she will do now. Her attorney told mine that she will probably now "quit her job, move back to the home, sit on her butt and eat Bon Bons and collect alimony." Nice, huh? Incidentally, she is not getting anything from me in the way of money. If she does come back, she is angry and will probably try to bait me into an argument or get me to do something that she can use against me. I will not fall for that - I'm focused only on taking care of the children. I have a family member coming to help me for the next few weeks so that I can work and take care of them.
My stbx has no basis for leaving other than she just wants out and wants to drag the children to her parent's dysfunctional home - and cut me out of their lives.
I will have to put up with this nutjob until at least the 25th (if she quits her job), but I'm feeling mroe confident that I might actually get primary custody. I will keep updating as things progress. Thanks for all of the kind comments.

p.s. - A lot of people comment that my son and I look alike. I am flattered, becuase I think he's the cutest thing in the world (I'm admittedly biased).
