Yes more med questions.
I am taking 10 mg of lexapro for anti-d from divorce.
I was taking xanax for anti-anxiety from divorce.
I do not want to get addicted to xanax so I had doc change to buspar(non-addicting) to get off xanax.
Buspar is giving bad side-effects,but there are no other(non-addicting)
substitutes for buspar(asked doc and pharmacys).
Pharmacists says that 10mg of lexapro is really a light dose and maybe
20mg is more often prescribed and may help.
My Dr office is closed for a week.
Question is what dose of lexapro are you using ?
Does it help you with ANXIETY as well as depression ?

Re: lexapro dosage ? Please reply tyrogers: I have not taken it in forever, but at one point, I was taking anywhere from 75 mg to 100 mg a day. It balanced off to about 50 mg a day then I weened myself off of it.

20mg is the standard dosage for lexapro. DRs always start out at half the dosage to watch for initial side-effects and effectiveness. (on Wellbutrin i started at 150 and went up to 300, Zoloft was 50 then 100)
I have no idea if lexapro has any positive impact on anxiety, however I do know that anti-ds can effect you sleep and eating habits which DOES have an effect on anxiety.
if you feel MORE anxious after taking them, AND you take them in the morning you can try taking them in the afternoon/evening instead until you're accustomed to it(I had to do this when I went on Wellbutrin after my breakup).
I wish I could help more, but since I haven't taken that specific med I don't want to get too specific with advice.
Re: lexapro dosage ? Please reply ColoHill: Well...Zoloft is also for OCD and Social Anxiety disorders. Maybe you could look into that one. When I was taking that one a few years ago, I started at 75mg on that one and went all the way to 300mg before I took myself off of it. The doc and I decided it wasn't targeting the proper things to fix my depression.
I am now taking Effexor (sp?) and Wellbutrin. I am at a 150mg dose of Wellbutrin in the morning and I believe it is 300mg dose of Effexor at night. I like that combination. My H was also on Wellbutrin. However, when he took it, it made him an awful person. He got mean and cranky. He had a short fuse and was very hot tempered on it. When he came off of it, he went back to himself. The VA docs had him try it one more time and ended up with the same results. They have him on 500mg a day with it.
