himbeing mad that you didn't offer him a place to stay reminds me of a story from the divorce of one of my friends.
she caught her ex cheating & go find somewhere else to live. the ex told the ow about this & in an ecstatic fit of we-can-be-together-ness, went home, told her hubby about the affair and packed her bags, so she & my friends ex could set up house.
in the meantime, the hubby who got caught went crawling back to my friend begging to be taken back. they decided they would try counselling.
the ow showed up st his job with her suitcases & he said, we've decided to work on it, she went home to her hubby who said "get bent, beeotch".
which brings me to the punchline of this thread hijack:
my friends not yet ex actually asked her to let the ow live at their house, because he felt bad that she had nowhere to stay. when she said, "no way, jose", he FLIPPED OUT, going on and on about his responsibility for this woman, because she had left her hubby for him. she kicked his @ss to the curb & needless to say, there was no counselling........
