I agree with Toxic on this one.
Rejection is a hard thing to deal with and we sometimes mistake what we are feeling for something else.
I'm sorry but i do have throw this in....you shouldn't have been with this girl when she is in a relationship with someone else and she shouldn't not have been involved with you either. Doesn't say much for her integrity and would you want to have to worry about her doing that to you some day too.

You should have given her the space then and encouraged her to work things out with him first. You should not be too shocked that she asked for this time because, once again, you were already warned of their attempts at working things out. You being in the picture was clouding her judgement, and if you really do care for her, you will understand that this is something she needs to do on her own without you in the picture.
