Re: Creepy, or Beautiful? ColoHill: I think it is a great idea. I mean, what more useful way of keeping someone you loved "alive" and with you? I actually have been teasing my mom about this for about a year (from when I first heard of it) and telling her I am turning her into a beautiful necklace for myself and that one day, she can be passed along as a family heirloom. ;D I know I am going to get people looking at me bad for this, but what good are ashes, really? I think the idea of keeping someone is beautiful. And, I think the idea of spreading ashes is wonderful also. Heck, I got to help spread the ashes of my best friend when he was murdered when I was 17. It was an experience that was so touching. But, at the same time, I do not feel that the "seperation" of elements from what is left of someone is a cruel or evil thing to do. People have all kinds of strange wishes for when they die. I don't know if any of you heard of Hunter S. Thompson (wrote "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas")...He lived here in Colorado and was just shot out of some strange cannon that he designed this weekend. Actually Johnny Depp paid for pretty much everything even the "celebration" that went on when this all occurred this weekend. But, I think that I would find more peace as a diamond that sitting on someones fireplace for the rest of eternity....That's just me though....You asked!

Re: Creepy, or Beautiful? LostTeacher: i watched that episode yesterday too. and it seemed like they were all really into it. i never knew that you could do that before.
i don't know what i would do. my parents are talking about being cremated when they pass on (knock on wood that it won't happen for a long while), but i don't know what they would think about being turned into a diamond.
i think it's an interesting idea....but a combo of creepy and beautiful.
and side note, it really is a good show....an interesting look into a life that so many of us know absolutely nothing about.
