Re: BIG day at the Post Office!! twobeautifulkids: ohh!  congrats!

I wish I'd get confirmation of my forms being submitted to sub.  Grrr.  I will give it til the first week of school, then I'm calling!!
Re: BIG day at the Post Office!! alonewith2: Ss, why don't you call the schools and ask them to be put on the sub lists?  My sister did this, and actually made good money....between $100-$150/day.  Also when I filled in as a secretary at the highschool, it was pretty apparent that once you get your foot in the door and prove to be a valuable, readily available sub, you will get calls more often.  There were subs that worked atleast 4 days a week.  Usually they would stop in the office before they left for the day and say, "any spots need filled?"  And of course we were more than happy to let them take as many as they wanted (less calls for us to make!!)  Teachers always need days off for appointments, sick days, conferences, classes, etc......try that for this year and see how it goes.  Oh and at the school I worked at, they always updated their sub lists after the first few weeks of school so you can still get in.

Re: BIG day at the Post Office!! Suddenly Single: Well the one county I registered with to sub has an automated sub caller that will call usually the night or so before....the other county I just signed up with yesterday gave me my temp card but I have to call the schools...so that is kind of nice because I can fill them in in person that I already am a teacher and have had 7 years experience.....so that could be better...the only thing is I don't know the pay rate and I hear it is different at every school so for a while I'll be a little bit in the dark.

Thanks Guys!

Re: BIG day at the Post Office!! LostTeacher: way to go!!!
and if any of the divisions are like the ones where i work, they are in desperate need of GOOD subs....which are hard to come by.  and with your experience, that should be no problem for you.
i love teaching......what a job!  glad that things are going well!
