Guys, Sports, and Books...
.

Guys, Sports, and Books... Tarheel: I think in general, the girls read more than the guys do... but I'm not above turning a few pages myself IF there's something I wanna read.

For me, that "something" would be sports.

For example, the book on my nightstand right now is The Majors by John Feinstein - I've got just about ALL of Feinstein's books - telling the story of one golf year and the sub-stories of each of the four major tournaments played.  Yeah, I've read it twice before, but non-fiction sports has plenty of "re-readability" for me.  Also on my bookshelf, A March to Madness, The Last Amateurs, A Good Walk Spoiled, Open, Caddy for Life, Season on the Brink, The Punch... and those are just Feinstein's books.  I have several others, as well.

So, am I the only guy here who is into sports literature beyond SI and ESPN Magazine?  If not, whatcha got for me?  I wanna know who else I should be reading besides my man Feinstein.
Re: Guys, Sports, and Books... sourpuss: oh mercy, books about golf?  i assume you have no trouble sleeping....?

i notice you've got a "field of dreams" movie quote.  have you read any w.p. kinsella?

Re: Guys, Sports, and Books... Tarheel: No, have not.  What am I missing?

The book the movie's based on, is it any good?
Re: Guys, Sports, and Books... sourpuss: i find the book is nearly always better than the movie...

i like kinsella, he's done many volumes of short stories and a handful of novels.  'field of dreams' is based on 'shoeless joe'.

he writes alot about baseball, and the stories are good in the sense that they are about the people for whom the sport is an intrinsic part of thier lives, not the nuts & bolts of the sport.

maybe that's kinda girl-ish of me, but my guy friends like his stuff, too.
