Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about....
.

Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about.... jackass: I really want to take a 1-2 week vacation from work, and go to the south and volunteer on cleanup/rebuilding from Katrina.  Does anybody know which route/organization I should go to make this happen?  I have never volunteered for anything outside of cleaning up trash when I was a cub scout.  I have lots of experience and really want to do this.  Any help/info appreciated.

Re: Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about.... ti-poux: OK, being Canadian I am not aware of all organisations but I know of The Red Cross and possibly Rotary Club...

By the way that is so nice of you to take your time and help others, if there were more ppl like you...it would be a much better place to live

Re: Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about.... Bubba: American Red Cross is asking for volunteers.
Re: Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about.... jackass: I just wrote them.  Been trying to call all morning, local and national numbers but they have been tied up.  Trying all kinds of routes, salvation army, red cross, etc.  Man, I'm blown away by the damage.  Unbelievable...

I just feel this strong desire to help.  To be honest, not becuase I'm a nice guy, but becuase maybe I need this...  Need to go there and feel it...
Re: Volunteer Work - anybody know anything about.... turning leaf: I really want to help too.  When the tsunami hit, the US sent millions of aid and manpower to Asia.  I'm looking forward to other countries actually doing their share in helping the US and paying back.

American red cross has satellite offices in every state and county.  They can never have enough volunteers.
