Re: Vikes blow it whatnext: Yeah, well Robert, as a fellow Vikings fan let me ask you:
Were you really surprised?

Yeah? Well, wait until they play the Bears, then you might see MN win... I swear, we couldn't play the Girl Scouts and win a game. It's getting depressing to watch the Bears anymore. I'm going to take up watching synchronized swimming or maybe watching paint dry.

Therin lies the reason why I just can't watch the Bears anymore, and would rather spend my Sunday afternoons in the fall chasing walleyes, making spaghetti sauce or playing with my niece. Every year it's the same futility in Halas Hall. Same old story every year. My God! Look at the last 15 years!
Botched draft picks, draft picks that they can never sign by training camp, draft picks that turn into busts, draft picks that they should have made but didn't, bad coaches, bad coaches bieng promoted, bad players winning jobs without having to compete for them, bad free agent signings, bad trades, bad GM's replacing a bad team president, players getting hurt with no backups to these players .
This year's scenario was almost as funny as the Rick Mirer trade or the 2nd choice damage-control Jauron signing of a few years ago. #1 pick doesn't get signed until after camp is over, Bears spend big bucks on Muhammed and the offensive line.....yet pass on a plethora of free agent QB's out there, putting all their eggs into the oft injured Rex Grossman basket.
All that money, all that time spent...Grossman is out for the year and with no backup QB the Bears season is over before it ever even started.
Ok. Vent over. :)
Re: Vikes blow it RobertMN: Maybe Chicago needs to get Mike Ditka back as coach, they won a super bowl in 85 with him....I remember they even came out with the song "Superbowl Shuffle" it was a catchy tune. ???
Re: Vikes blow it HeartbrokenDingo: I remember that song. It was hilarious watchin' "The Fridge" doing it!! ;D
(The shuffle, that is.) ;)
Re: Vikes blow it DarrenB: What they really need to to is start over from top to bottom and gut the entire management structure. This futility starts from the top, beginning with the McCaskeys. Bears won the Super Bowl in '85 because they had slick GM Vainisi running the show, making shrewd draft picks, bringing in good coaches and coordinators and had an excellent college football scouting program ithat brought huge talent to the team n the early to mid 80's. No chance back then of getting stuck with a bust like Cade McNown, David Terrell or a Curtis Enis.
Since then everything has been done on the cheap. They won't bring in a true "football guy" to run the team like Johnson or Parcells, won't hire a Tier 1 coaching staff or a real GM, they haggle with draftees over signing bonuses to the point where they miss all of training camp and are unprepared, they would NEVER pay top dollar for a quarterback or go after a Bledsoe or a Warner, ya ya ya.... the list goes on.
The last 15 years it's been the same old thing every season, and it doesn't look like it is ever going to change. I've given up on them.
Ok. Part 2 of the vent is over. I can't stop! :(
