I have relatives up in the Ishpeming/Negaunee/Marquette area. My dad grew up in Trout Creek, if you know where that is. I'd say what it's close to, but it's really not close to anything, unless you consider Bruce Crossing to be something. Where are your relatives?
The big difference between Frederic and the UP (or northern Minnesota, for that matter) is that the UP (and N-MN) actually had a little bit of industry in the form of mining and logging. Frederic just has a bunch of cows.
