in court today--help lost in midland: Went to court today for a drunk driving my1st and last. I amitted my guilt and was ready to pay my dues. As I walk in the court house I see my ex's boyfriend. He is thier I think to rub it in. He is the one my wife had an affair with. The Judge was sick and the date was moved. As I am walking out of the parking lot I see my ex mother in law and ex father in law walking in not knowing court has been canceled. My question is: could they be thier for any other reason the just to glot in my sorrow? It was a sentencing not a trial. Could they have spoken on a differmt issue and blind sided me. Like saying I am an unfit parent for doing this. The kids were not with me when I was arrested. Please help so I can be ready next time. Thank you----Lost
Re: in court today--help OneMist8k: There are many factors that go into a sentencing. Are you in re-hab? Are you seeking counseling? Are you actively employed? These are the good things. The judge might be nice if he thinks your trying.
On the negative side, if your ex-family testifies that you do this all the time, that this time you just got caught, etc. If the judge thinks you're a louse, well, you do the math.
