Stupid vent sigkapgirl: Okay, so this might seem really really stupid, but it has got to be on my top ten list of most irritating statements:
Stupid person: "Oh. You're in a sorority? I would never PAY for friends. That's stupid."
Being greek doesn't mean you are PAYING for friends you retard. Most of our dues go to our philanthropies and why in the hell would I join an organization if I didn't like the people because I was ALREADY friends with them!?!?!?!?

I agree with bigrunner...it is often jealousy or narrowmindedness or a general misunderstanding. Seriously, how many organizations do you get to join for free? Cmon people, I spent more joining a leadership society for one year than I spent in three years of sorority dues!
But I guess it is all subjective...like I have a good friend who tithes more than 10% to her church, because they ask her to, but is putting groceries for her four kids on her credit card because she can't afford to feed her kids otherwise. I don't understand it at all...
