Re: Sushi picadilly: right right. Sashimi is the purely raw stuff. looked it up... lol
Re: Sushi lghawaiian: Yep, sashimi is purely raw fish, usually cut into square or rectangular peices about 1/8th inch thick. Sushi is the descriptive word for the practice of creating an artful delicacy using "nori" (the seaweed used to wrap the roll) sushi rice (different from regular rice), and various meats and vegetables. Some are purely vegetable, like the California roll (pretty sure it's all veggie at least). Some include meats, which are almost exclusivley seafood. Be it fish, shrimp, lobster, crab, sea urchin, octopus or squid. Common vegetables used are cucumber, avocado, carrots, celery, summer squash and zuchinni. and anything else that can be consumed raw and has a fresh flavor. Leafy greens are usually excluded. Sushi can also be used to describe the simple fish/rice dish that is usually wrapped with a thin seaweed strip.
I know nobody asked for a description, but I felt helpful today. :D
Re: Sushi picadilly: If I didn't just have Indian food for lunch, I could very well be hunry right now. ;P
Actually, California roll has crab in it... though, typically the fake crab since real crab is more expensive & people eat this stuff by the pound it seems like.
