Re:New twist on an old story.... What is the GOOD part of your divorce? starbucker: Perfect. I love this...LOL! I am just learning to appreciate these things...although it is still hard to be alone...but I am looking forward to:
1 (in a big way) see Spectrums post #9.
2 Be the kissing bandit that I was in college. I love to kiss!
3 Turn the heat up in the house to 72 all the time (he is still paying the bill!)
4 I CONTROL the remote...I can watch 15 shows at the same time if I want to!
5 Never falling in the toilet because the lid is never up!
6 I don't have to stub my toes or trip over his huge shoes in the middle of the floor.
7 I get the whole bed with all 5 pillows.
8 Not worrying where he is and with who and how drunk they are getting together.
9 Not trying to make him happy and brighten his day.
10 Not watching him lay on the couch for days on end in complete darkness while I clean, cook, garden, walk the dogs, go to the beach and enjoy life.
11 Not dealing with all his body hair all over the bathroom floor!!! (He is bald with a total rug on the back and chest!)
12 Realizing that I can loose my 10+ extra lbs of chubb (and thanks to the divorce diet I already have)...but he can't grow back the hair!!! ;D

1. I was forced to realize how shallow my life with my ex was. It was all about materialism, the next cool toy, and what would make him happy.
2. I finally, in my 30's, have the opportunity to pursue my passions, which always seemed to be things that my ex frowned upon.
3. I gained a new husband, who is supportive, smart, funny, and responsible. What a difference from the surly, disrespectful and condescending ex.
4. I moved back to the town, job, and friends I always liked best.
5. I woke up spiritually. I am much more aware of the beauty in the world, and my place in it.
6. Horses! ;D My ex had no problem buying and maintaining an airplane, but made me feel guilty about wanting a horse. Now I have a beautiful sorrel mare, Sadie. When I am with her, I know she fills a need I have had in my soul for a very long time.
7. The opportunity to find out how strong I can really be. I depended on him for so long, for so much. I discovered that I was able to cope with the infidelity, lying, and abandonment by him, while simultaneously dealing with being laid off, my father having heart surgery, handling my finances, and orchestrating an out-of-state move, all in a seven month period. Wow - I did all of that, by myself, and did ok, dang it. Very cool. 8)

Never seeing his loser friends.
Living in a clean house, without having to pick up after anyone but myself.
Putting up Grateful Dead pictures on the walls, which I was not allowed to do.
No more put-downs.
No more blaming, being told everything is my fault.
No more hitting, or any forms of domestic abuse.
No longer being controlled
And the list goes on...
