Re: Daycare BONILLAK: I think I am going to start looking at a few of them. I'm looking for work but nothing found just yet as I need a job with medical benefits for me as the kids will remain covered under stbx's policy and its a HMO and covers everything with just a $10 copay so we can ask for better. Did you make appt.s or just show up at the daycare places? It seems like most of them around here have pretty good reputations. I'm nervous as he has never been around kids his age much and I think he will be a terror. I hope I'm wrong. He does ask to go to school so thats a plus.
Re: Daycare starzluv: it's usually best to call and make an appointment, this way you don't show up at nap time.
Re: Daycare SunnyFlower: It's not the easiest of choices, but you could do what I have been doing for the last 4 years since my son has been born:
12 hour night shifts! :P
I work in a hospital as an RN, but there are other positions where I work where you don't have to be licensed personnel.
Also, many grocery stores/retail stores have night time hours for re-stocking...
I'm tired alot, sure. But my son is with me during the day, and his father the nights I go to work.
Just an option...
(AND, there are no day care costs!! ;D)
Re: Daycare sparks: I have worked throughout my kids lives so they are used to it. there are times they would cry and cling to me and other times they pushed me away. Overall, I am glad that I did put them in daycare. My kids are independent, well adjusted kids that adjust to any situation and I think that is because of me working and them in day care. They are now 7 and 10. I am so proud of them.
They do not hate me. They love me and show me that everyday. I am not a bad mother and neither are you. You are taking care of your kids. How does that make you a bad mother? The experience can be a good one.
My sugestion is to check around to find someplace or someone you feel comfortable with. Listen to your kids to make sure they are happy with your choice in daycare providers. It will all work out.
The other peice of advice, spend the time you do have with your kids doing something together that is fun. It doesnt have to cost anything. We go bike riding, roller blading, anything that we can do together. Sometimes I dont have a lot of time so after dinner we go for a drive and buy ice cream.
Re: Daycare BONILLAK: Thanks a bunch for all the advice here. There is a new daycare across the street from my house and one plus there is its all video monitored so you can go online from any place, put in your password and watch whats going on at anytime. I think thats cool and makes you feel safe. I worry about all the colds and germs he will pick up especially with flu season approaching but I have no real choice. I think he would adjust ok or so i hope. Its just so darn expensive here...they all charge $800 a mo for 3yr olds and the before/after care for our 8yr old will be $180 a month but as long as my stbx is ordered to pay half of that I should be ok as long as I can find something decent paying.
