Re:Marathon...here I come! jillieb44: The nice thing about running a marathon with team in training is that they provide coaching and training and it's so much easier to train with a group and do your long runs with a group (really, who wants to run 20 miles on your own??), give tips on clothing, shoes, eating, drinking, etc.
I've done 4 events with them and I'm excited about doing another one.

Re:Marathon...here I come! browngreen: Jillie, you are lucky. I don't think that exists here where I live. I'd love to join soemthing... just to give me that extra motivation that I need somedays.
I think if I was sponsored or doing the run for a good cause, it would help me.
How did you find out about running for leukimia?
Is there some way I can sign up with an organization? I'm happy to go door to door to get sponsors for a worthy cause. But the race I'm hoping to do isn't for any particular cause or anything.

Re:Marathon...here I come! jillieb44: Where are you? Cuz there are TNT chapters in every state and now Canada. We're signing up now for fall events.
www.teamintraining.org and you should be able to find a chapter in your state. Heck, my state is tiny and we have 2 chapters.

Re:Marathon...here I come! caligirl: Hey Jillie--I did the First inaugural Nike's Women's Half Marathon last year, and I can report that it is AWESOME! They are changing the course this year to start at Union Square(which is in the downtown area of S.F.)..and promises to be a faster and flatter course.
And yes, you will receive a Tiffany necklace when you cross the finish line! I haven't taken mine off since ;D...
Instead of the usual medallion one gets at the finish line of a marathon, you can expect to see gorgeous men dressed in tuxedos handing you a lovely turquoise little box with a beautiful Tiffany necklace that has Nike 26.2 finisher, engraved on it...very cool!
Let me know if you are coming to town! It is a great timeof year to be inn San Francisco...we have our Indian Summer then....also, to entice you more, the race ends at Ocean Beach, and the Expotique is awesome!! I met and had Joan Benoit-Samuelson sign my finishers shirt last year....she is such an inspiration!!!(She ran the Half Marathon, and was to spokesperson with Emily Proctor of CSI Miami...--she ran the Half as well....) If you have any questions, let me know..I'm pretty involved with the running community here....
