Re:What to do with the ring? Spectrum: Yeah, I've picked mine up and put in on a few times. It makes me feel hollow and vaguely ill.
The fact that you have it in the console of your car reminds me of my STBX. The A$$Clown threw his wedding ring into his center console when he was on one of his outings with his OW, and threw it right into his 5-disk cd changer, and hasn't bothered to get the d@mn thing out yet. Typical, typical.
Still, I'm with Christy- my rock is large a beautiful (about a carat), and is just begging me to put it in something else and show it off. It is a pity to leave that kind of jewelry lying on my dresser like that. What a waste.
I'm thinking now that some kind of cool raised and offset channel setting would be neat. It is a good stone with only a tiny occlusion and excellent cut and color. It needs to be in a setting where it can sparkle.
The setting it is in currently is a modified bezel setting, so the stone doesn't get much light. Even so, it is totally brilliant. That worked well for me, because if I wore it to the stables, I wasn't worried about losing the stone. Now that it is going to be strictly decorative, and won't be joining me in the barn, I can go with something that exposes it more.

Re:What to do with the ring? JDorn: Well i didn't put mine in there on a trip like that anyway :)
When its warm out I do my 4 mile a day jog around a lake by our house and I always hated how the ring made my hand sweat, so every day i'd take it off and put it in the console before my run, and then put it back on when i was finished, but at some point, one that i can't even remember clearly now, I just didn't put it back on. And its pretty much been there ever since, except for when I occasionally open the console for change or something and see it there.

Re:What to do with the ring? picadilly: My stbx gave me back all the jewlery that I ever bought her & all the wedding gift jewlery my family got her. So I have all of it including my wedding band in my safety deposit box. I am not sure what I'll do with it.
Our wedding bands were custom made, I melted down a 24k gold ring my parents gave me when I graduated high school to make them. We added some 10k gold to them to make them about 18.8k, a dragon chasing it's tale with small diamonds for the eyes. Mine was larger then hers but they were the same design. It was supposed to symbolize "Eternal love" but I guess it was one sided. :P
So I will never pawn them off or throw them in a river since they are made from old family gold, I guess maybe I'll melt them down or something later.
Re:What to do with the ring? starbucker: I took mine off Sunday and put it in a safety deposit box with all the other incredible jewelry he gave me...can you say lots of family money? Anywho, my ring was the trilogy ring...three diamonds set in platnium representing the past, present and future (excuse me while I go barf...little did I know the future was him and another woman). I am going to sell the ring and the rest of the jewelry and buy a Porsche. F*ck him. Sorry, my wounds are still fresh...the little indent in my finger from the ring is still there...
Re:What to do with the ring? jason: My wedding ring was worth $ 69.95 new....anyone want to buy it...its' only 8 years old & has plenty of wear left in it...the goshdanged internet bill'll be due soon. ;D
