Re:What to do with the ring? justmenow: I put my wedding set in the attic until I calmed down and had some time to think rationally about it. I think I have decided to have the diamonds from my anniversary band re-set into a necklace for each of my teenage daughters. After all, they are the best thing he gave me, so I feel the diamonds are rightfully theirs anyway.
The wedding ring, well, it might make a nice fishing lure.
Just my two cents.
Re:What to do with the ring? Spectrum: The ring? There is alot of gold on that bugger! I was thinking about having it melted down and designed into a custom something by a jewelry designer.
I also have some really rare semi-precious stones I can use, so I could do something really fun.
Spectrum.
Re:What to do with the ring? paddington: I just got into a car accident on Friday. Horrible day - skidded on black ice, crashed into a bus.
I am fine, my car is not. I will get $ from insurance.
Insurance + ring = Infiniti FX35. Beautiful, safe SUV for the harsh New England winter.
What to do with the ring? ChristyM: I had my s2bx separate my band and engagement ring (he's a jeweler). My daughter wanted the band and I gave it to her b/c I just couldn't honestly think of what I would ever do with it (other than sending it in to be melted down since it is 18K). I wear the ER on my right hand because frankly, it's huge and beautiful. It's a little less than a carat and a half with channel set diamonds on both sides. Not sure what will happen when I start getting serious about someone - they may not want the constant reminder.....

Re:What to do with the ring? JDorn: I know I'm the only guy to reply to this, but my ring is sitting in the console of my pickup truck, occasionally when I open it up i'll notice it there and pick it up, sometimes even putting it on my hand for a little bit, but I always feel so weird when I do, as if it was something that never belonged there to begin with.
I'm not sure what i'll do with it in the long run.
