Number One: REGAINING MY IDENTITY!!! (After we were married, he wanted to change me to be the perfect wife - someone who did ONLY what he said. There were days where I was exhausted from fighting to retain my identity...)
There are so many others:
not hurting ALL the time - and not knowing why he had pulled away so far and so suddenly
doing what I want to do
cooking what I want to cook
going where I want to go
spending what I want to spend - and not going without because he wanted what he wanted
not watching him become an alcoholic
not worrying about him killing himself or someone else when he drove drunk
not worrying that he was going to degrade me in public
not putting up with the emotional abuse...
I could go on and on. But some have asked "why did you marry him? What did you see in him?" I can honestly say, he lied to me the whole time I knew him before marriage. He lied on SO many levels. And he lied about his entire personality. He is mentally ill. He needs help. But he thinks he is normal. Sad, isn't it...
