Re: do you dare? alonewith2: I was pulled over in college for going the wrong way down a one way street.  I was hoping to sneak through up to the intersection and turn on to the next road, but the cops were coming through the intersection before I turned!

Anyway, they pull up to me while I'm still sitting at the light, and they ask me for my license, registration, and insurance card.  So I find them, hand them over, and then they ask if I was aware that it was a one way street that I was travelling down.  I said that I had just dropped off a friend at his apartment, turned around, and didn't realize it was a one way until I came to the next sign which was right before the intersection.  (It helped that I had an apartment 10 miles away in the next town!)

Then the cop started sniffing around me and asked if I had been drinking.  That's when it dawned on me that I was covered from head to toe and dripping wet with alcohol! (I had just been inducted into my business fraternity earlier that night....I hadn't been drinking because I didn't drink at that time in my life).  I was getting nervous because I really didn't think they were going to believe that I hadn't been drinking when my hair was practically dripping with alcohol!  But I said, "no, I haven't been drinking at all tonight."  And they let me go....no warning, no fine, no ticket, no alcohol tests!!

*must be because I'm so damned cute!! LOL not really*

Re: do you dare? LifeisBetter: I was going really, really fast on a backcountry road a few months after getting my license.  I saw the cop coming towards me but there was no way I could slow down in time.  He turned around and chased me.  I figured I had a good minute lead on him so I tried to lose him down another back road.  Needless to say he caught up to me, pulled me over and gave me a ticket.

He even asked (almost with a laugh) "Were you trying to out-run me?"

I can't believe I even attempted that, but it definitely taught me a lesson - don't try to outrun the cops in a 10 yr old Ford Bronco II.
