not too sure... starzluv: how i like this new job. it's definately better then hotel housekeeping but afte this week of training, i have cardboard cuts on my thumb, 2 fingers and both wrists not to mention i accidentally rakes a tape gun across the other thumb which gave me not 1 cut at a time like the boxes do, but about 4 cuts deeper then the boxes did. oh well. the pay is desent and the work is way easier then the hotel. everyone kept telling me warehouse work is hard, the hardest part about my job is trying to figure out what size box an item will fit in. some just know, but me well, if the boxes are all set p, i can do it, but they only have the boxes together for training. oh well, hopefully i won't get stuck doing that too often.
Re: not too sure... alonewith2: I can understand the cuts, etc. About half the patients we get in the ER are people who cut themselves at one of the factories around here. Once you get callouses on your hands, it should get better for you.
I'm glad that things are going well for you besides that.
When I worked at McDonalds, all the bags had a count size on the bottom so that you could get used to knowing how many items could fit in to each bag, etc...and what each product was considered....for example a Big Mac was considered 2 items because it was bigger than say a cheeseburger. Maybe you could make yourself a chart up that would help you determine which size box fits so many items etc.....just a thought!
Re: not too sure... starzluv: well i wish a chart would help, but it won't. we only put 1 item in each box, the thing is everything is soo different. we get everything through our line from a little throw pillow to those car seat stroller combos. yesterday we had alot of those brat doll things, and a couple of the barbie things. we had a lot of star wars toys come through which held up the line cuz they wouldn't scan and the bar code #s had to to be manually typed in and our person to do that part has problems just turning on her computer at home. needless to say i had time to deside which box to use. other then that the job is fine, the bad thing is it's one of those temp-perm jobs, i just hope i get on perm after the holiday if not i have a back up. i can go out to the warehouse my H works at and get in there. i kind of worry about that, but i know if i get hired i won't have to see him. he works the cadberry (sp) and i would either work the coors or hersey account. so in the end it should all work out just fine. it would be about a $2 pay cut, but they get bonuses there so it may just even out in the end. but i would prefer to stay at Amazon
