why? because a few months of insanity does not erase 21 years of being together. I have 2 kids with this woman, i have 21 years invested in her. So she does not want me anymore, fine. But we were friends before we got married and we will be friends after. I cant hold on to that much hate.

For me, it is understandable to a point, Right now i can't be her friend because of my expectations and false hope, its hard to try to just be only friends to someone that you're still IN LOVE With, i was with my wife for 15 years with 2 kids, I just need to let go of the thought that maybe some day we be back together again. sucks, but tue

Im with you man, I have that stupid hope to. Why cant i see her for what she is? a cheater and slut. All I see is that 16 year old girl I met so long ago.
I see that woman on the table having a c-section as I held her hand. I see that woman that held me when my mom died. I cant see what she is now, it may come in time I just cant now.

My ex and I have been divorced almost 3 years..and we get along pretty well.. Now if you would look in the ancient archives of ojar and see some of the things he did to me and that we went through...it would seem impossible that that would ever happen :P but now as time as passed..I would call us friends. We dont hang out..nor really see each other often ..but we do call up and chat about our lives.. our daughter..etc.. It really makes things alot easier..but of course my case is different in a way.. I divorced him because he was abusive..and now that I dont have to live with him and that behavior..I have no problem with him :P Plus he has changed alot..but I do have to say..I think even after 3 years out..he still has some glimmer of hope in his head that we would get back together someday.. I will always love him..but he left to many scars on my head and heart for that to be a chance in Hades..
So without yammering on endlessly ..I suppose I will answer the question and say yes..you can be friends with your ex... in..certain situations :P :P
