Why do people stick it out? StillLearning: Hi all,
I haven't told my story yet because it is not as awful as some of the stories I have read in here in the past.....Basically I was in a 5 1/2 year relationship.....I am 35 and we bought a unit together which we have lived in for 2 years. Earlier this year in Feb my G/F decides she doesn't want to be in a relationship with me anymore because she says she no longer loves me( how many times have I read that in Ojar). So I move out with the s**ts and live with my mum for about 3 weeks and after much discussion my G/F decides she wants to get back together and says she loves me and so on. All goes great for a while then 3 weeks ago she comes home all upset , saying she is tired of everthing, needs a break and goes away for a week to visit her girlfriend and Aunt etc... I did not ring her , thought I would let her have time on her own and we just emailed each other. She comes back and the next day we go boating, I am having great time she not so...we get home and for some reason (had a couple of beers) I say to her that I can't marry someone and think about a kids together with someone who isn't happy being in a realtionship ........... She says nothing and then the next morning I say , "hey lets go shopping" to which she replies, "I can't do this anymore" /meaning she doesn't want to be with me anymore again... she leaves , goes to her mums and that was that.
Last night after 2 weeks I finally rang her up to discuss the situation because I was going mental, nothing new that I haven't heard before...but the thing I kept asking her and I am having so much difficulty with is......HOW CAN YOU SPEND 5 1/2 YEARS WITH SOMEONE AND DECIDE "OH, HEY, I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE"....how can you do that???????
It doesn't take 5 years to work out you don't want to be with someone.....18 months in any relationship is all it takes...there are no kids so that was no reason to hang in there....I am all f**(*d up .....I just don't get this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the biggest problem I have with all of it is that I just don't get it --- the very same question -- how does someone just stop loving another person after loving them for so long. I don't quite get how it can just mean nothing after meaning something for so long.
I know ... I am not answering your questions. I know I am just reiterating your words -- but I am mostly just writing to say -- your not alone. Your story may not be as 'bad' ... but your loss is just as real. We didn't have kids --- We didn't make it to being married but I know the place your at. my wife basically did the same thing after three years of marriage.
Just told me " love you but can't live with you.
No real resolution or closure.. she moves two blocks away..

Re: Why do people stick it out? StillLearning: Sometimes I wonder if my G/F just stayed with me because it was convenient.............I thought people stopped doing that stuff after their early 20's.
I got a question for you guys.....its pretty personal....but how did your partners treat you sexually?
