Who will cut the turkey? BONILLAK: Ok its the first holiday with no Dad or husband here and yes its strange. It will be weird to have "his" spot empty at the table for me and the kids. It will just be weird all together. Neither the kids or I have said anything about it as of yet and none of us probably will because we know there is no use. I do hope at least the kids cross his mind today during his Thanksgiving and he remembers the good holidays we all had together and I hope he feels a bit of sadness over all this even if he doesn't show it. I know he won't even call the kids today because its like he doesn't even care for them anymore. The whole thing is said but my main problem right this minute is who will now cut the dang turkey??????

You will ;D and dammit, you will do a damn fine job of it too. And its funny because something as silly as carving a turkey can actually be pretty liberating....sounds stupid but its so true.
I remember all my "firsts" lol.... the first time I ever had to do something my ex always did and I always felt really good about it after it was done no matter how silly a task it was. I would get it done and say "Ha! see, I can do this, I don't need a man" It it feels great!
So you will cut the turkey...and you will mow the lawn, and you will learn to change your own oil on your truck, change a flat tire, and split your own firewood, etc......and everytime you do you will feel just a little more independence ;)
Happy thanksgiving girl........I had mine last month........and I cut my own damn turkey too :D
Re: Who will cut the turkey? jadedangel: [color=navy"> Yep ... I agree -- with WG -- YOU will do and do a damn fine job! You don't need a man to carve a freakin turkey -- you need him to take it out to the garbage after your done ... ;)
Good luck -- I am sure you will do great. I know his 'place' might be missing .. but, it's time to make sure everyone, including yourself, have a good time and make better memories.
Happy Thanksgiving![/color">
Re: Who will cut the turkey? BONILLAK: nah, I have our 16 yr old son still so he can take out the garbage.LOL Its funny the things I miss the stbxh for anymore. I mean yes I still miss the whole family thing, miss having that much needed break from my kids, I miss the kids not having him as thier playmate and Dad but I miss him for fixing things and carving the turkey. I will carve the turkey and no matter what a mess I make out of poor Tom he will still taste good! I can make it through today, I just hope the kids make it all the way through without missing him too much or getting too upset. They really don't say much about the breakup and him not being around at all for them anymore.....I'm not sure to take that as a good thing or a bad thing.
Re: Who will cut the turkey? Gabo: Well my parents got separated when i was 17 and I almost never talked about it.
I took it really good but I guess it depends on the age and personality.
