Survival: 2 Questions about how you are doing: manda: Okay, I'm having a lot of tough days, although I think I'm doing better than last week...Anyway, I'm curious about how others in a lot of emotional pain are doing with their daily life: what they are doing that helps them even in small ways (I'll take small.).
So here are my two questions:
1. What is one thing you think you are doing well or one thing that is helping you, all things considered? (a positive)
2. And what is one daily thing you are feeling guilty about because you are being slack? (a negative)
Me:
1. I am fixing my hair and make-up everyday even if I'm not going somewhere--that helps me feel a little better. Silly, I know, but it helps. I'm afraid if I ever stay in bed and not do it even one day, I'll never do it again.
2. I am not cooking good meals lately. I feel bad for my son. I need to do better there.

2. Bad -- I have gone from a 4.0 student to someone who is barely passing. From a excellent clinician to someone who is "doing fine." I have gone from excelling to something I never thought I would ... average. [/color">

Likewise. I'm a student whose world was completely turned upside down. When I try to work, all I think about is what she did. People are starting to notice that I haven't done much for the past 2 months.
Re: Survival: 2 Questions about how you are doing: Findingmyself: I find myself doing well at being in touch with my emotions, and slowly learning how to deal with them. I've done a few inner guided journeys to recover pieces of my heart from my ex, and to recover the lost part of me that allows me to love myself and life. This has helped a lot more than I thought it would. I catch myself a few times a day from obsessively thinking about the ex and all the circumstances. Sometimes I just have to tell myself that it is enough! I don't have to think about her all of the time. It's a healthy thing to get your mind under control at times. I'm also starting to go see a psychologist this coming week on a regular basis.
On the other hand, I to am not cooking good meals either. Just box food. :P It's sad, as I used to love to cook for my ex, because she loved and appreciated it. :( And I think I could stand to get out of my apartment more often and try to socialize.

Likewise. I'm a Ph.D. student whose world was completely turned upside down. When I try to work, all I think about is what she did. People are starting to notice that I haven't done much for the past 2 months. I should be planning to graduate, but it's not possible for me to concentrate in this mental state.
I also regret not spending more time with friends when I was going out with her. Friends always seem to get neglected.
