Re: freak'n holidays Trillian: The one thing I hate about christmas is the fact that I have no SO to buy something for.  I really enjoy buying the presents more when I have a SO at home.  Although I enjoy buying stuff my kids as well.  It just seems that even though I buy for the kids also, that shopping is no fun when you have no one at home that you can go and show all the stuff to...
Re: freak'n holidays shockedandamazed: I agree - my STBX used to think about Christmas at least 3 months in advance (rep - I married a child too!) - we would make a night of putting up the Christmas tree and then hang out on the couch and talk in the dark with just the Christmas lights on.

Haven't even drug any Christmas stuff down this year at all...no lights, no manger sets, nada. And I could care less.

I only have to buy 3 gifts this year....other than that...it all just seems pointless. Maybe I should spoil myself rotten this year....just maybe I will!!

Re: freak'n holidays Horseface: Wow..For me the holidays are proving to be much easier than I expected and it has surprised me.  I have stuff for the boys purchased but for me, it is such a relief that I do not have to buy anything for the STBX.  That used to almost make me physically sick because I could never do it correctly.  While I miss seeing the tree and the decorations - not having to stress of her present is liberating for me.  I never realised how much I worried about that.  I always bought the wrong thing for her and that would upset me greatly.    She was gracious but I could always tell. Especially when the presents would not get opened or used during the year.  Sometimes they would but I remember the ones that just sat - like the flowers I would buy her, rotting on the cabinet.

Oh well.  Not this year@!

We used to set up the tree and then the boys would decorate it and then we would put on xmas music and sit in the dark and look at it.  All 5 of us.  it was wonderful.  I will miss that but I won't miss her.

I have an SO, and it is complicating the situation, IMO.  I don't know what to buy him (we're together 4 months), and have no money (or desire honestly) to buy anything. I have no idea what he has planned for me, but he has recently hinted about shopping for me.  I don't want anything.  I need a lot, but don't want.

The only one who I truly want to buy for (and still can't afford to) is my daughter.  She deserves to have a 'normal' christmas, despite everything else that is not normal, and I have no clue what her father has planned for her.  Bah, Humbug!!
