Wow..phyxius...what an impressive load of crap!!
I just can't stop myself.......[/quote">

Why WG, you're sounding almost shrill. Let's see now...

THE REST OF THE STORY>>>>>

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. He can only afford to drink four ounces a day because his tree-hugging governor raised the sales tax for the fifth time in four years to pay for gov't run Daycare, the Playboy channel for incarcerated sex-offenders, free needle-exchange programs, social services for illegal aliens, and condom-vending machines in preschool.

But he savors every drop, for next year he'll only be permitted to buy decaffeinated coffee because FDA testing found that force-feeding lab rats 20 gallons of coffee per day raised their cancer rate by .0003% per thousand.

::) ::) ::)

With his first swallow of water, he rations his daily intake of medication. He can't afford all his meds because some stupid commie liberal ambulence-chaser drove pharmaceutical costs through the roof with frivolous law suits.

Unfortunately, Joe is far too blinded by the illusion of a "free market society" to comprehend that the cost of his meds is affected far more by the advertising budges of the pharmaceutical companies and their ruthless profit margins (the top 10 pharmaceutical companies posted greater profits than the rest of the Fortune 500 combined). While the pharmaceutical giants weep about lawsuit and R & D costs, the truth of the matter is that they spend 2.5 times their R & D costs on advertising "me too" drugs  and  "administrative costs" each year. This in addition to subsidies and tax breaks given to them by their staunch "free market" Republican congressmen who also allow the companies to license taxpayer-funded research and forbids insurance plans from buying drugs at the lowest priced suppliers (i.e. Canada and Mexico). His own party has even forbidden Medicare and Medicaid - the single largest consumer bloc of medications in the country - from negotiating price with the drug manufacturers. The federal government must pay full price. Free market my ass...

His meds are subsidized by his employer's medical plan because some liberal closed shop union workers fought their employers in order to garnish employee wages so that Joe would labor under the illusion that someone else is picking up the tab when in fact his employer is reaching into Joe's own back pocket.

Well, once again Joe has his head too far up his ass to take a look at what is really going on here...  ::)

Let's enlighten him, shall we?

Modern "health insurance" began shortly after WWII, when in an attempt to circumvent wage and price controls and compete for workers in a depleted labor force following the war, employers found a loophole in the tax laws which allowed them to pay for third party medical insurance as a benefit. This benefit was effectively an increase in wage levels beyond wage controls and so attracted workers to these businesses, and marked the point at which power and decision making shifted from the people to the now all-powerful medical insurance industry.

The tax laws favored businesses paying for insurance, as it was considered a deductible expense. In addition to the inequitable tax situation, the need to submit bills to a third party forces patients and physicians into an irrational system of petitioning insurance bureaucrats for coverage of treatments and medications recommended by medical professionals. And, if you have not met your "deductible", an arbitrary figure which allows the insurance industry to avoid payment for medical services entirely, patients receive nothing for their increasingly unaffordable premiums.

Mislabeling this financing technique has created a vast burden for physicians and patients, and brought the "health care" industry into existence. Consuming an ever increasing proportion of worker and tax revenues, this bloated monstrosity will eventually consume and destroy the tradition of medical practice in the United States.

The inefficiency of this system has grown to the point that most citizens will be paying more for "health insurance" than they would if they paid for medical care directly. Unable to influence the decisions of the powerful mega corporations who control medical cash flow, patients are forced to pay for care they will never receive, as well as to support an increasing bureaucracy of middlemen and women. And, many of these middlemen are paid much higher compensation than doctors or nurses.

But you're right, WG - it's all the fault of the unions... [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/rolleyes.gif">

Re: A Day in the Life of a Republican... Phyxius: He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is unsafe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for limited liability laws so that if anyone dies of food poisoning, the meat packing industry will pay a fine and pass the cost on to the customer.

LIBERALS fought for limited liability? Did you pull that out of your ass, or what? I thought that liability-pouncing liberals were responsible for running the pharmaceutical industry into the ground. Sorry sister, you can't have it both ways - pick one. [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/twak.gif">

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient because some crybaby liberal thought that he was too stupid to know that imbibing a pint of shampoo might be harmful to his health.

Hmmm...

Well, if brain-addled Republicans would stop chugging Pantene, the labels wouldn't be neccessary, would they? [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/spineyes.gif">

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. Joe begins to cough, choke, and gasp for breath because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for passage of the Kyoto treaty, allowing Third World countries to contaminate the world air supply with carbon monoxide.

However, since Joe is a good party-line toting Republican, he doesn't believe in global warming or any form of environmentalism and can't conceive of the the fact that polluted air might actually be killing him and his family.

Must be a cold... [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/action-smiley-054.gif">

Joe doesn't dare go out at night because some environmentalist wacko liberal lawmaker forbad the spraying or draining of malarial swamps.

And of course, being a brain-addled Republican, Joe actually thinks that it is a good thing to live next to a f*cking malarial swamp...

Joe lost his first home to wildfire because some environmentalist wacko liberal lawmaker forbad the thinning old growth forest land.

Joe really seems to have some issues on where he chooses to build his homes, doesn't he?

His dad used to take the train to work. But when the Federal highway system destroyed our once-magnificent train system, Joe had to resort to the filthy, crime-ridden subway system because some fancy-pants liberal fought to disarm law-abiding citizens so that street gangs could mug commuters, then cop a plea based on post-traumatic slavery disorder.

And again, as only a narrow-minded, self-deluded Republican can, Joe has completely ignored the reality of the situation and blamed on liberals a problem his own party created.

Soon after becoming president in 1953, President Eisenhower (a REPUBLICAN) authorized the first funding of the interstate system. The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1954 set aside $175 million for the project. However, even more money was needed for the system that Eisenhower envisioned, and he continued to press for funds. Two years later, the expanded Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 authorized a budget of $25 billion, of which the federal share would be 90%.

Further legislation over the years continued to expand the total length of the system, which now stretches for more than 74,600 km (46,380 mi). In 1990, in recognition of President Eisenhower's pivitol role in building the national system of interstate highways, President George Bush signed legislation officially renaming it the Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways.

It wasn't only the interstate-highway system that killed Amtrak, though. The airline industry had just a little to do with it as well. But we really can't expect Joe to keep up with those little details, can we?

And post-traumatic slavery disorder? And you wonder why people consider the GOP to be filled with hateful mysogynistic racist xenophobes?

Geez... [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/eek.gif">

Re: A Day in the Life of a Republican... down2basics: Sounds more like Democrats protecting Democrats from themselves - not Republicans!!!!

Phyx!  Leave WG alone dammit!  Rant if you want - but leave her alone!!!  [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/twak.gif">
Re: A Day in the Life of a Republican... Phyxius: Joe begins his work day. Joe's dad used to support his family at a middle class lifestyle on a single income. But it now takes two or three incomes to do the work of one because liberal bureaucrats drove up the cost of doing business through overregulation and usurious corporate taxation.

To be COMPLETELY honest (which "Blame-it-all-on-the-Liberals" Republicans have a REALLY hard time doing), the factors that drive inflation and cost-of-living increases are hardly that f*cking simplistic and operate independently of whatever party is in charge - but if it soothes your soul to blame it on Liberals, go right ahead...

If Joe gets bored with his job, he can fake an injury and collect workman's comp., retiring to the slopes of Aspen to recuperate because some stupid liberal didn't think that employees might try to bilk the system.

Once again, we get a screeching "ditto-head" statement with nothing to back it up. If you receive Worker's Comp, you will only receive two-thirds of your pre-injury income. And if your injury is permanent (or retirement is your goal), you will be requried to prove your disability to the Social Security Administration. And we all know what a gold-mine that is - just ask any senior citizen on a fixed income...  ::)

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal thought that financial institutions should be able to defraud their customers and then file for bankruptcy, thereby shielding the pension and severance pay of board members while sticking the taxpayer with the tab.

(Sigh) Once again, we seem to be pulling facts out of our ass... [IMG"> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/Hasatude5150/Disappointed.gif">

Actually, the FDIC (and FSLIC) was created 1933 after more than 5000 banks and savings and loans had folded during the first three years of the Great Depression (which, BTW - happened after eight glorious years of REPUBLICAN leadership and needed a - can you say it? - LIBERAL to pull us out of...). The purpose of the FDIC was to restore confidence in a banking system that for all purposes had collapsed on a national level. Since the national economy cannot function without a valid banking system, it was vital that confidence in that system be restored.

The bankruptcy and fraud you're referring to is the Savings and Loan Crisis, which happened  in the late 80's and early 90's. The root of the problem was in 1982 (again, under a REPUBLICAN administration - is there a pattern here?) when the banking rules were changed to allow S&L's to pretty much invest in whatever they wanted to. The nice, conservative bankers then proceeded to embrace the "free market economy" and blindly invest their institutions into the ground.

But Joe really shouldn't be expected to know that either, should he?
